Centrifugal pumps serve as critical equipment across industries such as water treatment, chemical processing, and oil & gas. OEMs, however, face several design challenges, including complex geometries, high prototyping costs, cavitation risks, and the need to meet regulatory efficiency requirements such as the EU’s Minimum Efficiency Index (MEI ≥ 0.4).
To address these challenges, Ansys (part of Synopsys) combines multiple simulation and AI-driven tools with distinct roles:
- Simpleware converts CT scan data into simulation-ready CFD and FEA meshes
- Ansys Fluent and Mechanical evaluate hydraulic efficiency, head-flow performance, stress, fatigue, and cavitation behavior
- Ansys optiSLang applies AutoML-driven metamodeling to identify suitable impeller design configurations
- Ansys SimAI uses physics-based AI models to assess new design variations using prior simulation data
This integrated workflow aims to support early-stage design evaluation, reduce dependence on repeated physical prototyping, and assist OEMs in making informed engineering decisions during pump development.
