Siemens has partnered with German climate technology company Ucaneo to support the scale-up of its electrochemical Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology from pilot to commercial deployment. The partnership uses the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, covering process automation, instrumentation, drive technology, simulation, analytics and digitalization, and aims to create a standardized automation platform that can be replicated across future plants.
Ucaneo’s process captures high-purity CO₂ directly from ambient air. The captured CO₂ can be permanently stored or used as feedstock for products including sustainable aviation fuel, methanol, and food and beverage applications, supporting the emerging carbon removal economy.
