Volvo Uses ANSA to Model NVH Encapsulation for Electric Drives

Volvo Cars Corporation has worked with BETA CAE Systems, now part of Cadence, on an approach for modelling NVH encapsulation in acoustic simulations of electric drive units. The encapsulation helps address high-frequency noise, but its complex geometry, varying thickness, and changing gaps from the housing can make accurate modelling challenging.

BETA CAE Systems developed a partly automated meshing procedure in ANSA. Starting from a three-dimensional CAD model, the workflow generates a solid, simulation-ready finite-element mesh. The approach aims to support accurate modelling and allow more design iterations during development.
