Valeo, an automotive technology supplier focused on electrification, advanced driver assistance systems, and lighting solutions, has partnered with renewable energy company POWEN to deploy a 7.8-MW solar power project supporting operations at Valeo’s Martos plant in Spain. The facility is one of Valeo’s major lighting R&D and production sites.
The project was completed in six months and includes 11,622 photovoltaic panels (705 W each), two 4,000 kVA transformer centers, and a 6-km underground 25 kV power line. Developed under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, the solar facility is located about 6 km from the plant and supplies electricity for self-consumption. The installation is expected to generate around 13.52 GWh of electricity annually, meeting about 16% of the plant’s energy demand. The initiative also aims to avoid roughly 3,350 tons of CO₂ emissions per year, supporting Valeo’s broader sustainability and decarbonization objectives.
