STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor leader powering devices from smart cars to wireless systems, aims to transform its radio frequency (RF) component design process using PyAnsys, Ansys’s Python-based scripting ecosystem. At its facility in Tours, France, engineers developed VLE2EMS (Virtuoso Layout Editor to Electromagnetic Solver), an automated workflow that seamlessly transitions 2D circuit layouts into simulation-ready 3D electromagnetic models.
Built on Ansys HFSS and Ansys Mechanical, and driven by PyAnsys scripting, the workflow aims to automate everything from geometry building and material assignment to electro-thermal analysis. Beyond efficiency, the initiative seeks to make advanced simulation accessible to engineers across all experience levels, fostering cross-team collaboration and supporting STMicroelectronics’ broader sustainability commitments.
