Podcast by Neil Ashton
In this another interesting episode of “The Neil Ashton Podcast”, Neil Ashton talks with Prof. Johannes Brandstetter about some of the key questions shaping the future of simulation. They discuss the role of open-source vs. closed-source, the need for transformer-based architectures in CFD and CAE, the gaps between CFD and machine learning communities, and where the field may be heading in the years to come.
Prof. Johannes Brandstetter, a former mentee of Max Welling, was part of the team behind Aurora, Microsoft Research’s breakthrough foundation model of the Earth’s atmosphere. In recent years, he has turned his focus to computational fluid dynamics (CFD), where he is advancing a transformer-based approach through his university work and his startup Emmi AI, which has also been released as open source.
