PanX Addresses Simulation Limits in Large-Format Metal AM

PanOptimization‘s PanX simulation software aims to address scalability challenges in metal additive manufacturing by enabling the simulation of large, geometrically complex parts. According to the company, conventional FEA-based AM simulation tools often require design simplifications due to computational limitations, which can increase reliance on iterative build-and-test cycles.

PanX incorporates Periodic Adaptivity and Multi-Grid Modelling technologies to support larger build envelopes and modern multi-laser systems. The platform also includes loose powder and build plate modelling, which aims to improve thermal representation during the simulation process. According to PanOptimization, the methodology is designed to enable the simulation of larger and more complex metal AM parts without requiring extensive model simplifications.
