Gexcon Releases EFFECTS and RISKCURVES v13.1 Update

Gexcon has released version 13.1 of EFFECTS and RISKCURVES, its consequence and risk modelling software for the process industries. The update introduces three major capabilities:

  • Ignition source modelling in RISKCURVES — point, line, and area ignition sources can now be defined on a site layout, with flash fire and explosion risk calculated only when the modelled flammable cloud reaches one of these sources
  • Enhanced battery hazard modelling in EFFECTS, predicting both toxic and flammable gases released during lithium-ion battery thermal runaway
  • Crater formation modelling for buried gas transmission pipelines, extending a capability previously available only for pressurised liquefied gases

The release also adds German language support, alongside English, Spanish, and Chinese. The update aims to help engineers produce more realistic, site-specific safety assessments.
