Gexcon announces the release of FLACS 25.3, the latest version of advanced CFD software

What’s new in FLACS 25.3

Improved flammability predictions for complex gas mixtures
The headline feature in FLACS 25.3 is a refined approach to estimating the lower flammability limit (LFL) for gas mixtures. By applying a modified Le Chatelier model, the software now delivers more accurate predictions, especially for mixtures containing inert gases.

This update also adjusts the lean side of SLAM curves, which may result in small differences in predicted overpressures for lean mixtures with high inert fractions. For mixtures without inerts or those near stoichiometric concentrations, results remain largely unchanged.

This change helps engineers better understand ignition behaviour and flame propagation in real-world scenarios, such as in Lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) fire and explosion assessments.

Faster simulations with smarter data handling
Simulation speed is a common bottleneck in CFD workflows. FLACS 25.3 addresses this by reducing the frequency of data dumps by a factor of 50. This significantly improves runtime for multi-scenario and batch simulations, especially in cloud-based environments.

Users can now run large sets of simulations with less waiting and lower storage demands, while still retaining the ability to rewind or restart as needed.
