Flexcompute Unveils Agent-Driven Loop for Photonic Chip Design

Flexcompute has introduced an autonomous, agent-driven loop for photonic chip design, where AI agents aim to handle the design process with minimal manual intervention between steps. The system brings together PhotonForge, which gives agents access to foundry process design kits, layout, and circuit simulation, and Tidy3D‘s GPU-based solvers to keep the design loop running smoothly.
The approach is aimed at:

• Co-packaged optics design for AI data centers, where optical, electrical, and thermal physics need to be evaluated together
• Agents proposing designs, running simulations, and checking fabrication constraints with limited human input
• Compatibility across agent frameworks, including those from Anthropic and OpenAI, using NVIDIA NemoClaw
