COMSOL Multiphysics® version 6.4 expands its GPU computing capabilities with added support for NVIDIA GPUs. The update integrates the NVIDIA CUDA® Direct Sparse Solver (cuDSS), which enables supported GPUs to assist in solving large sparse linear systems created during finite element analysis.
These large systems of equations are generated when modeling physics problems such as structural behavior, acoustics, and electromagnetic fields. By allowing GPUs to handle the core matrix solution step, the software improves how these calculations are carried out, particularly for large models.
The release also builds on existing GPU features, including explicit pressure acoustics and support for running simulations across multiple GPUs.
