BMW Group and Mistral AI have announced a collaboration to explore the use of artificial intelligence in vehicle crash simulation. The initiative aims to develop a Large Industry Model (LIM) — a domain-specific AI trained on BMW‘s engineering and safety testing data, distinct from general-purpose AI systems. The LIM is expected to support engineers in analyzing complex crash simulation data, identifying patterns, and assisting with development decisions. The collaboration begins with crash simulation and is intended to serve as a foundation for scaling specialized AI across other areas of vehicle development and the broader automotive value chain.
