Ansys, part of Synopsys, has introduced its 2026 R1 update to AVxcelerate Sensors simulation software, integrating NVIDIA Omniverse libraries and NVIDIA NIM microservices to connect real and virtual interactions via sensor-aware digital twins within a unified autonomous vehicle (AV) development workflow.
The release introduces three key capabilities: NVIDIA Omniverse integration aims to establish a unified pipeline for real-world 3D digital twin creation, reducing the simulation-to-reality gap; the Light Propagation Engine (LPE) aims to model true multispectral light transport for physically accurate camera sensing across complex lighting and weather conditions; and visual radar tooling aims to enable precise transmit/receive antenna configuration and verification. The update also emphasises asset scalability, reusability, and greater automation for environment preparation, supporting more consistent and diverse AV validation datasets.
