Flexcompute has announced a collaboration with GlobalFoundries (GF) to integrate GF’s silicon photonics technology stack into its PhotonForge design platform, powered by the Tidy3D simulation engine. GlobalFoundries, a semiconductor manufacturer, provides fabrication processes and material stacks used in chip production. The integration gives designers direct access to verified process parameters, layer definitions, and material properties within the simulation environment. This approach is intended to reduce the need for manual reconstruction of foundry data, which can introduce inconsistencies. By aligning simulation workflows with manufacturing constraints, the collaboration aims to support more reliable design iterations and development of production-ready silicon photonics devices.
